FPU 68882
Floating Point Unit / Mathematical Coprozessor

68882 PLCC |
68882 PGA |
The 68882 is a so-called Floating Point Unit (FPU), a mathematical
coprozessor for fast processing of floating point operations. Many
Amiga accelerator cards (like the
Blizzard 1230-IV)
and memory expansion cards offer to add an FPU (there must be either
a PGA or PLCC socket on the card) to speed floating point operations
up. Every software that supports FPU operations for calculations
is heavily sped up, a good example for such software are raytracing
programs..
The 68882 is available in different speeds and in two different
packages (PLCC and PGA). Please choose the FPU accordingly and make
sure it matches the speed and socket of your processor/RAM card.
