Rys Mk II USB Adapter
Amiga Interface for USB Mice and Joysticks
Rys Mk II is an interface enabling you to connect mice and
joysticks/gamepads with USB interface to your Amiga. The hardware is
based upon a 16-bit Microchip microcontroller, the software side
features an internal USB stack to communicate with the USB HID
devices (mice or game controllers).
Rys's installation procedure consists of simply plugging it into the
correct port (i.e. mouse or joystick port) of your computer and
connecting a mouse or game controller to it. The adapter automatically
detects whether a mouse or game controller is plugged in. There
is no need to install additional driver software. Rys features
three emulation modes, one for mice, one for gamepads and another one
The mouse emulation comes with three user-definable tracking speed options.
This feature allows matching just the right speed for the connected device.
All preferences are saved to the built-in EEPROM, thanks to which the device
is already configured the next time you reconnect it.
When Rys finds a game controller (i.e. joystick or pad), it automatically
switches into a pad mode. If a joystick is connected, the operating mode
should be set to joystick mode by simultaneously pressing the joystick keys
9 and 10. If the command succeeds, it will be confirmed by the blinking of
the status indicator LED.
Rys also comes with a "Bootloader" function allowing future firmware
upgrades. (This functions requires a USB cable and a PC running Windows.)
Please note that some Amiga models require an adapter to connect the Rys
interface. (The A600 is such a case, there is simply not enough space around
its mouse/joystick ports.)
